Isles of Scilly: find accommodation

time to find an accommodation on the Isles of Scilly is a matter of primary importance and resolved promptly! Although I had moved several months before (3 or 4, do not remember exactly), when, two years ago, I decided to spend a week at St. Mary's, labored so much to find a double room at a bed and breakfast ... and it was the month of June! This can give you an idea of \u200b\u200bwhat these islands have little accommodation and how it is essential to have booked an accommodation before proceeding with the purchase of flight or ferry. Eventually, after consulting all the sites dedicated to Scilly, have sent dozens of emails, received many negative responses and sorry, have also contacted the tourist office, I got positive response from the bed and breakfast Schiller ( www. Schiller scilly.co.uk ): decent accommodation in a villa in a residential area close to the center room with large bathroom and nice, clean enough, hearty breakfast served in room (but not English!) which manages very nice and friendly ... but I think, moving first, I could find much better, especially as the location!
Unfortunately, many b & b present at St. Mary's are unavailable on the Internet or, if any, can not be booked online and do not provide either an email address for the booking service, so you need to make calls and send the deposit by international money order: all operations that involve some investment of time and to which we are not very familiar ... However, to find a list of all possible arrangements to start making a selection, check out this site: www.simplyscilly.co.uk .
On the site you will find the accommodations available on the smaller islands like St. Martin's, Tresco, etc etc. I personally believe that to stay in St. Mary's, which is the capital of Scilly, the most populated and one served in the archipelago, is the best choice. From the port of St. Mary's leaving several boats a day to reach the other islands, so do not miss the opportunity to visit the amazing beaches of St. Martin's or the beautiful gardens of Tresco, but managed to return for evening in a less remote and more "urban", with some pubs, restaurants, ATM and all the primary services to which we are accustomed ... But this is, indeed, a personal opinion based on what are my needs: if some of you do not fear, but rather look for the almost total isolation, the choice may be the beautiful St. Martin's, which, apart from the water temperature has nothing to envy to the Caribbean and was recently chosen as the "good retiro" by some of Britain's most popular star (Jude Law an example of all) ... St. Martin's offers a unique luxury hotel, restaurant and bar and some other room for rent in private homes and guest houses, and there is a real center of the island, only two groups of houses in the middle of fields ... Landscape absolutely fascinating, but I think it would be appropriate to reflect well before you decide to spend the holiday ... nter

How to reach the Isles of Scilly

The means to reach the remote, yet lively, Isles of Scilly are three: a two by air and by sea, ie, plane, helicopter and ship.
The easiest and cheapest way is the slow, no doubt, by ferry. The ship Scillonian part daily from the port of Penzance at the time of St. Mary's: For those not afraid of the sea (which in these areas can be really rough) and the seasickness, the ferry is the ideal way to reach these small fragments land enveloped by the ocean, becoming slowly suck water from the element on a journey of about two hours and a half dominated by sounds, lights, colors and scents that will delight you and introduce you to beautiful and unusual visions, first of all the incredible view of blue sky and ocean meet and mingle in a horizon that seems endless. For information, schedules and reservations, visit this site (in English): www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk .
on this site you will find schedules, prices and information for St. Mary's reach by plane, using the service skybus in spectacular departure from Land's End and other cities in the south of England ( Newquay, Bristol, Southampton, Exeter).
The third half what I used and I feel that I recommended, and the helicopter flights from the heliport in Penzance, there are many direct flights daily to St.Mary 's and only a few to Tresco.
The choice of the helicopter, while expensive, can reach the islands in a very short time (20 minutes) and enjoy the prospects of land, sea and sky unusual and difficult to define in words, and to experience a means of transport that does not happen very often in life to try ... To get an idea, even if partial and not completely thorough, you can catch beautiful views from the window the helicopter, I invite you to look at the photograph of me taken during the flight and that is the background to the title of this blog ...
I can assure you that the helicopter trip was quiet and not at all troubled (even if imagined and feared the case): up and down vertically cancel the excitement and pathos typical of the acceleration of the aircraft takeoff, making the passenger feel the climb toward the sky as something slow and almost natural.

I hope to have you explained quite thoroughly the different vehicles at your disposal to reach these islands of dreams. I greet you and I close with the recommendation, whatever will be the means you choose, not to give up for any reason to spend some days in this land suspended between sea and sky, past and present, dream and reality ...
you soon!
